"I am honored to be recognized by the Women's Image Network tonight. I applaud the work of Phyllis Stuart in promoting gender parity and fostering creative opportunity throughout our industry.
I have been fortunate throughout my career, but never more so than when I was able to use my fame to raise funds and awareness for the HIV/AIDS crisis, work which remains my singular focus. I am touched to be included among WIN's honorees and so gratified to know my efforts are appreciated.
Although I am not able to join you for tonight's awards ceremony, please know I am with you in spirit. Each and every one of you here tonight is making a generous contribution to our community. Through your courage to act and your willingness to share, you provide a vital, effective link for women and girls throughout our industry. Since Colette Burson couldn't be there to accept in person (again, my apologies), we had a mini-presentation here in the office with all of the writing staff. She even gave an acceptance speech.  "What a treat Tuesday was. I had no idea that the whole event would be that swank. And the show itself was incredibly polished and funny. One of my best friends, Sasha Alexander was there and we laughed because she and I have known each other for 15 years (I used to photograph her in all my little projects at film school as my muse...) so we had a blast celebrating how life has taken us so far together!"
